Dave’s Events is the brainchild of Dave, Shonna and Liam – a bunch of local craft beer enthusiasts who have combined their diverse backgrounds in order to create a channel to collaborate with anybody looking to host unique beer experiences. A chance meeting (funnily enough over a beer, at an event) led to an immediate connection between the crew and recognition that by joining forces, they could create and deliver fresh, intelligent event experiences.
Their connections with local breweries and knowledge of this young, dynamic market enables them to offer one-off, unforgettable solutions to reinvigorate a myriad of events – completely scalable and curated specifically to client’s requirements.
Whilst it started with beer – it doesn’t finish there. The team at Dave’s have growing relationships with local producers and suppliers including distilleries, urban wineries along with artisan providores and boutique catering companies, all offering something special to enhance your experiences – nothing is off the table, everything is possible.
The crew is hugely passionate about what they do and can’t wait to get talking with you about their ideas.
Owner and Beer Master
Dave Phillips started in the beer space with the launch of Dave’s Brewery Tours, NSW’s only craft beer and brewery tour operator specialising in giving guests behind the scenes experiences of the local beer communities. Having always been a beer fan, Dave saw the stories behind the beers he was drinking and wanted to showcase the characters and challenges of his local beer community by creating Dave’s Brewery Tours and more recently, Dave’s Pub Walks.
Spending every day inside breweries has given Dave a truly unique appreciation for all things beer and brewing; from tasting and judging beer styles through to helping plan brewery expansion programs, there’s not too many aspects of local beer he doesn’t understand. A firm part of the Australian beer scene, Dave regularly attends beer launches, judging events, award ceremonies, beer dinners, festivals, travel and beer industry events.
Owner and Event Director
With an early introduction to the local beer scene (growing up in pubs owned by her family across NSW), Shonna has always appreciated quality beer. Launching a career in Event Production for over 19 years ago, Shonna has done it all, including management positions within PCO’s (Professional Conference Organisers), Event and Marketing Agencies and most recently forming her own boutique production agency. The ultimate organiser, Shonna has produced all manner of events including large scale international association conferences, B2B and B2C corporate programs for some of the world’s largest organisations, fundraising and charity events, incentive programs, bespoke social experiences and everything in between.
In addition to having a wide network of suppliers and connections throughout the events and tourism industries, Shonna has worked with organisations of every kind (corporate, association, NFP, Government) to satisfy marketing and business goals. Shonna thrives on identifying unique and fresh event ideas for her clients enabling them to turn guest’s expectations completely on their head for punchier outcomes and more memorable moments every single time.
An all round craft beer lover, Liam began a long term relationship with beer whilst working in a brewery bar in London. Since returning to Sydney, Liam has managed and worked at a heap of craft beer bars, bottle shops, brewery tasting rooms and has hosted curated beer events in many different venues for a range of clients.
Liam’s ongoing passion for good beer led him to evolve his career into beer events and education with a focus on making beer more approachable and enjoyable for all. Whether it’s working with chefs on beer and food matched degustations, training venue staff and consumers on beer brands and styles, managing major event activations at beer and lifestyle festivals, beer education workshops or curating bars for corporate events, Liam has done it – all the while spreading the word about great beer. He’s a lover of hops and sours, but is a fan of all beer styles.
